Dr. Audrin Mathe
Biography:
Dr Audrin Mathe is the Executive Director (Permanent Secretary) of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology. He previously served as Executive Director of Namibia's Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service. Before that, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the New Era Publications Corporation. Prior to that, he served as Chief News and Programming Officer of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation. He was the spokesman for Prime Minister Hage G Geingob. He left the position one year after Dr Geingob was relieved of the position of prime minister. He served as Executive Assistant to the Secretary-General of the SADC Parliamentary Forum before joining the Roads Authority as Head of Communication.

He has practised as a television producer, spokesperson and public commentator for more than three decades. He has written extensively on Leadership, Government and Political Communication, Rhetoric and Development Policy. He has sound leadership experience and proven skills in intergovernmental, international non-governmental and public sector entities.
Between 2019 and 2020, he consulted for the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, Environment Investment Fund, Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa, African Union Commission, International Planned Parenthood Federation, Namibia College of Opening Learning, Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust, GIZ, National Planning Commission (Namibia) and United Nations Development Programme, among others. He chaired the Public Enterprises Chief Executive Officers’ Forum from 2015 to 2019. In 2016, he served on The Southern Times Board of Directors. He served as a member of the President’s Economic Advisory Council for three years, beginning in 2013, and has been Chairperson of the Zambezi Education Foundation since 2015. In recognition of his role in the development of karate, he was made Honorary President of Karate-Zen Namibia in 2021. In 2008, he was unanimously elected the first President of Karate-Zen Namibia and re-elected for further terms, serving twelve years. He was elected Deputy President at the inaugural Karate-Zen International meeting in 2015. In 2019, he was unanimously elected President of the Scouts of Namibia and re-elected in 2022.
In 2009, he graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree with a specialisation in Public Rhetoric from the University of Cape Town after only eighteen months of study. He holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree with specialisation in Political Communication from the University of the Free State, a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Development Policy and Practice from the University of Cape Town, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with specialisation in Leadership from the University of Namibia. He also holds an Honour’s (BA. Hons.) degree with specialisation in Speech Communication from the University of the Free State and three other undergraduate qualifications.
